THE VILLAGE POST BOX

The letters to Clifford were brought from Stratford in a red pony cart by Mr. Box – and Mr Horseman, waiting outside the Post Office at 7a.m. carried his allocation on his back to Preston-on-Stour and the outlying farms. He died at his post for he fell into a ditch one cold winter's day, and died as a result.

The Post Box for posting letters was approached along what is now the car park of the Clifford Club, the letters dropping into a wire cage inside the Post Box
